Mary Ellen Merrigan

Mary Ellen Merrigan views her life perspective like a string of colorful beads. Every bead, every day contributes to the whole.

She built a career in the implausible world of selling air. Her experience in the competitive world of broadcast advertising led to the launch of her consulting practice that emphasized public relations and social media.

Mary Ellen’s passion for all things bead-related ignited in 2007 when she created her first treasure necklace in a friend’s studio. Until beads called out her soul she used needlepoint, embroidery, dressmaking and crochet for relaxation not knowing that her creativity would lead to a sense of greater satisfaction with her life. Today design, color embellishments, shapes, detailed stitching, hand-formed metal and all things bead-related influence her work.

Beads launched an influx of creativity in other aspects of her life. She’s completed an ebook about the ceremony of gaining clarity called “Theme for a Year.” It’s available to all attendees of WMAD. Mary Ellen continues to weave a study of bead history, bead techniques and intimate interviews with women artists through her creative works.

Beads are Mary Ellen’s “magic.” She looks for any excuse to hang out in the studio. To no one’s surprise, Mary Ellen claims to never meet a bead she doesn’t like. She encourages everyone to join her in playing play with beads.
