What is the Value-Added Producer Grant?

 Eligible applicants:

o Independent producers (farmers or ranchers),

o Farmer or rancher cooperatives,

o Agricultural producer groups,

o Majority-controlled producer based business ventures.

· What is the purpose of the grant? How much funding is available? Is there a match? The program provides funding to eligible agricultural producers entering into value-added activities. These nationally competitive grants provide funds for economic planning and working capital in order to generate new products, create and expand marketing opportunities, and increase producer income. Funding is provided on a 1:1 match basis, for up to $75,000 in planning and up to $200,000 for working capital.

Application Requirements and Process

Applicants are encouraged to contact USDA-RD well in advance of the deadline date to receive the appropriate application template and guidance in the application process. More information is available at , including links to the regulations and notice (NOFA), fact sheets, and application templates. Grant requirements are found in the regulation and the NOFA. Any updates as to funding will be available at this website. The grant operates on a yearly funding cycle. Applicants compete on a nationwide basis.

Deadline; Application Submissions

Applications must be submitted by February 24, 2014. Paper applications must be postmarked and mailed, shipped or sent overnight by this date. Hand-delivered copies must be received on this date. Address for mailing/receipt is the address of the State Office provided below. Late applications are not eligible for grant funding under the current notice.
