The New Mexico Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals will honor philanthropists and generous donors from across New Mexico at the 2013 National Philanthropy Day celebration on November 12, 2013 at the Embassy Suites Hotel.
More than 300 people are expected to attend the National Philanthropy Day luncheon to celebrate this year’s honorees. This year’s theme, “Love for Humankind,” represents the enormous impact of the generosity of the individuals, businesses and foundations which contribute to countless causes and organizations across New Mexico. According to a 2012 report by the New Mexico Association of Grantmakers, philanthropic contributions in New Mexico total over $130 million dollars each year.
This year’s honorees are:
Outstanding Corporation in Philanthropy: Mountain States Insurance Group
Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser: Bruce Seligman, Board Member for Boys & Girls Club
Outstanding NM Leader in Philanthropy: David Rubin, Founder, Mountain Mahogany Community School
Outstanding Family in Philanthropy: Nancy Croker, MD & Joseph Gorvetzian, MD
Outstanding Foundation in Philanthropy: Daniels Fund
Outstanding Fundraising Professional: Gayle Dean, Executive Director, San Juan College Foundation
Outstanding Youth Collaboration in Philanthropy: La Cueva High School Teacher Debra Chandler & Students
Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy High School Student: Andrew Wilson, March of Dimes Volunteer
Outstanding Young Nonprofit Professional: Lindsey Stanek, Paws and Stripes
Outstanding Young Board Member: Cathy Cavanaugh, Albuquerque Community Foundation Future Fund
“National Philanthropy Day is the day we recognize and pay tribute to the contributions that these honorees ��" and many others ��" have made to New Mexico,” said Anna Sanchez, Chair of the NPD Committee and member of the AFP-NM chapter. “Collectively, our ability to improve the quality of life in New Mexico is great.”
Tom Joles, news anchor for KOB-TV Channel 4, will serve as emcee for the event, which will begin at 11:00am at the Embassy Suites Hotel. Doug Brown, retiring Dean of the University of New Mexico Anderson School of Business, will serve as the keynote speaker. Event sponsor Wells Fargo will provide $250.00 grants to the organization of each honoree’s choice.
