The Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) will be presenting the latest forecast to the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce members with a focus on what it means for Santa Fe. Attendees will not only have an opportunity to gain insighton the state of the economy but learn about BBER as a resource in all things data, economics, and research pertaining to New Mexico.
The presentation will be given by Dr. Jeff Mitchell, BBER’s Director since 2014. The focus of Jeff’s research is community and regional economic development in New Mexico, with an emphasis on the creative economy, community revitalization, housing, internet access, strategic planning and the use of data in public policymaking. Jeff is the director of BBER’s economic forecasting service.
The Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) is the recognized expert in providing socioeconomic data and forecasting in New Mexico. With more than 70 years of experience, BBER’s research team provides economic forecasting as well as research services and data communication tools tailored to the needs of clients seeking to understand and shape public policy.
BBER produces a quarterly economic forecast projects numerous economic variables for the state as a whole as well as for each of the major metropolitan areas- Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Santa Fe and non-metro. The forecast is used by leaders in both the public and private sectors in order to stay up to date with the New Mexico economy in order to inform decision making, as well as track trends and identifying future markets and is used to guide budget planning processes.
