Need startup funds? Many of New Mexico’s most dynamic and innovative technology companies received their early stage funding from the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program.
The SBIR Resource Center at ABQid will provide the basic SBIR process at an upcoming training for innovative, American-owned, for-profit companies with less than 500 employees.
The SBIR Program, with a budget of $2.5 billion each year, is the nation’s best source of early startup financing. New Mexico technologists receive approximately $30 million every year.
The SBIR Phase I awards go up to $150,000 and cover a feasibility study over 6 months; the SBIR Phase II award involves two years for building a prototype and provides significant funding of up to $1 million.
Each year, about one-third of the SBIR grants/awards are given to first-time proposers.
The way to get in the game is to understand the structure of the 11 Federal agencies that participate in the SBIR Program, and write a competitive proposal.
You must register to attend the event.
